Profile

Manuel Eduardo Aranda Redondo is a JAE Intro 2023 fellow at the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC-IPNA). He is affiliated with the Space Experimentation Laboratory (LABe2), an interdisciplinary research group that, through the lens of Digital Humanities, explores complex historical spaces of the Hispanic Monarchy, including a significant part of Europe and America, between the 15th and 19th centuries. This affiliation was established through an Ícaro scholarship (2022) and a Collaboration scholarship (2022-2023), enabling him to contribute to the construction of a historical cartography data tracker with the goal of creating an accessible web repository. His exposure to this type of documentation led him to appreciate geo-historical approaches in his undergraduate thesis, titled "La carretera de Andalucía: Reformismo Borbónico y Nuevas Poblaciones de Sierra Morena," involving research methodologies that incorporated Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Currently, he is pursuing the Master's degree in Advanced Studies in Cultural Heritage: History, Art, and Territory at the University of Jaén. Additionally, he is associated with the Institute of Natural Products and Agrobiology (IPNA), as part of an interdisciplinary training program aimed at documenting and promoting the agri-food heritage of the Canary Islands.
