Profile

Ferran Pons Raga is a Juan de la Cierva postdoctoral fellow at the Spanish National Research Council (IPNA-CSIC). He holds a Bachelor's degree in Social and Cultural Anthropology and a Master's degree in Anthropology and Ethnography from the Universitat de Barcelona. He earned his Ph.D. in Anthropology from McGill University (Montreal, Canada). His thesis examines the production of green landscapes and the persistence of the commons in the Catalan Pyrenees, focusing on the complex interaction between the Baqueira Beret ski resort, the brown bear reintroduction program, and extensive husbandry. Driven by an interest in landscape transformations in high mountain rural areas, he has published several articles, book chapters, and monographs on ruins, heritage-making processes, touristification, environmental conservation programs, and human-animal relationships. In the context of studies on human-animal relationships within the framework of political ecology, he is currently conducting the project "Domestic, endemic, and wild" with the aim of analyzing perceptions and knowledge production regarding the impact of cats on biodiversity in the Canary Islands.
