Borja Maestresalas Andueza is a postdoctoral researcher specialising in the study of species biology, ecology and behaviour, particularly reptiles, with a focus on biodiversity conservation and the management of invasive alien species.
His doctoral thesis focused on the biology and ecology of the California kingsnake (Lampropeltis californiae), an invasive species in Gran Canaria, with the aim of generating scientific knowledge to improve its management and control.
He is currently involved in the LIFE Reptiles project, which aims to conserve Gran Canaria's endemic reptiles through the creation of sanctuaries free from invasive predators and other threats. The project also includes research on the California kingsnake to help improve management and control strategies for this species.
