Profile

Cristina Cabrera Febles has a degree in Social and Cultural Anthropology from the University of La Laguna and a Master of Advanced Studies in Social and Cultural Anthropology from the Complutense University of Madrid. She is currently doing a research stay at the Institute of Natural Products and Agrobiology (IPNA-CSIC), an institution where she collaborates in ethnographic research on the historical memory of Buenavista del Norte. From the IPNA, she is currently developing the techniques and methodological resources that she will put into practice in her thesis on women in agroecological transitions (Canary Islands-Colombia).

She has worked on the project “Ordinary Memories” (2022-2023) from the Cultural Association Periferia Creativa Acciones Culturales, subsidized by the Canary Islands Institute of Cultural Development (ICDC) and the Cabildo of Tenerife. She has also worked as an anthropologist hired by the UCM in the II Edition Rural Campus Program, to carry out ethnographic work in rural villages in Guadalajara (Spain). Within this framework, she created a series of social maps and social revitalization workshops in these rural populations.

  • Research anthropologist in the Comuni-CanLGTBIQ+ Project: Canary Islands Conference on the treatment and promotion of LGTBIQ+ diversity in the media and RRSS (2023)
  • Ethnography with development of in-depth interviews and collective mapping workshops in rural towns in Guadalajara, contracted by the Complutense University of Madrid in the II Edition of the Rural Campus Program (June-September 2023).
  • Novel anthropologist in charge of writing academic articles in the research team of the Cultural Association Periferia Creativa Acciones Culturales, for the project “Ordinary Memories” with a subsidy from the Instituto Canario de Desarrollo Cultural and the Cabildo de Tenerife (2022-2023).
  • Content creator for dissemination in anthropology and gender between the Department of Social and Cultural Anthropology of the University of La Laguna and the Librería de Mujeres de Canarias (2021).
