Verónica Péres is a graduate in Biology from the Universidad de La Laguna (ULL), and has a PhD from the Universidad de Málaga (UMA). She completed her PhD thesis at the Instituto de Hortofruticultura Subtropical y Mediterránea La Mayora (IHSM-UMA-CSIC) in the fruit growing group, where she studied the reproductive processes in mangoes. Afterwards, she worked in the same centre on studies of genetic diversity of temperate fruit trees, specifically peach trees. Currently, she develops her work at IPNA-CSIC, contributing to the study of the molecular characterization of species of interest for local agriculture, with the aim of valuing and preserving phytogenetic resources. Her work focuses on fruit species such as avocado, coffee and species of the genus Prunus, and vegetables.
